Notice the discoloration or "foxing" on the paper. This type of foxing is caused by dampness. Called bull’s-eye foxing, it is a dark reddish-brown (or sometimes green) spot with a lighter brown halo. It is usually caused by a metal impurity incorporated in the paper when it was made or left by a metal plate during printing. |
